The Kappa League program is part of Guide Right, a national service initiative of KappaAlpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Guide Right, is the oldest and most successful mentoringorganization for young people of color, impacting over 500,000 young lives. Since 1922,Guide Right has provided students with the opportunity for mentorship by advisors,conduct community service, embark on college tours, obtain college scholarships, and prepare for careers in trade or entrepreneurship. Currently Guide Right has over 8,500 student participants nationwide. Emphasis is focused on personal development, academic achievement, career development in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) fields (aviation) and college/career preparation.
The Gainesville-Manassas (VA) Alumni Chapter Guide Right/Kappa League program’s emphasis is designed with a holistic approach, to support the personal development, health, wellbeing, resiliency and growth of young men between the ages of 12 to 17 within the Greater Gainesville, Haymarket, Manassas, Manassas City regional areas.
This is achieved by providing mentorship from certified advisors, teaching leadership skills in conjunction with providing formal leadership opportunities with the program, engaging in community service projects, educational opportunities, access to learning about future STEAM initiatives, career development in professions, and entrepreneurial opportunities to support academic achievement scholarship programs.
What are the Program Requirements?
Attendance at monthly Kappa League programming is mandatory. If your child has extenuating circumstances that prevent them from attending regularly, please contact the Guide Right Director to discuss further.
Please note that regular attendance at monthly programming is required in order to participate in trips and special events. Kappa Leaguers must not miss more than FIVE programming events to remain in good standing.
